Challenge
The collaboration with the Romanian Basketball Federation covered the European Championship held in the Polivalentă Hall (BT Arena) in Cluj-Napoca. Following the preliminary meeting with the representatives of the Romanian Basketball Federation, we received the organisation’s technical specifications.
They required a fully redundant infrastructure, two data rooms, 3 internet providers, more than 600 network ports and professional wireless, serving simultaneously more than 450 accredited users and more than 9,000 spectators. All the equipment also had to be made available by the suppliers on a rental basis, for the whole duration of the competition.
Solutions
To answer every need and ensure the event ran without difficulties, we chose the equipment that matched the requirements exactly, producing the solution architecture and the technical design. The solution comprised Fortigate firewall systems, FortiSwitch switches, Ruckus Wireless equipment, laptops, printers, copiers and monitoring servers.
Following the initial proposal, we organised a meeting with the IT department of the European Basketball Federation, who validated the proposed solution. For the implementation, the existing cabling in the Polivalentă Hall in Cluj-Napoca was extended, on both fibre optic and copper. We then installed and configured the equipment, which passed the technical audit of the European federation. Moreover, throughout the event we guaranteed on-site and phone technical support 24/7.
Results
The IT department of the European Basketball Federation validated our solution and audited the installation. We kept communications uninterrupted for the whole duration of the competition: 9,000 spectators, more than 450 accredited users, 2 redundant technical rooms, 3 internet providers, more than 10 TB of data transmitted, with the equipment delivered entirely on a rental basis and 24/7 on-site support.
