Challenge

Our partnership with the Romanian Basketball Federation involved the European Championship held at the Polyvalent Hall (BT Arena) in Cluj-Napoca. Following the preliminary meeting with the representatives of the Romanian Basketball Federation, we received the blueprints with the necessary technical requirements.

They aimed at creating a completely redundant infrastructure, 2 data rooms, 3 internet providers, over 600 network and professional wireless ports, while simultaneously assisting over 450 accredited users and 9000 spectators. Moreover, all the equipment had to be made available by suppliers on a rental basis throughout the competition.

Solutions

In order to meet all the needs and to ensure a smooth event, we chose the equipment that perfectly met all the initial requirements, developing the architecture of the solution and the technical project. This included Fortigate firewall systems, FortiSwitch switches, Ruckus Wireless equipment, laptops, printers, copiers and monitoring servers.

Following the initial proposal, we organized a meeting with the IT department of the European Basketball Federation, who approved the solution that we put forward. Afterward, we started the implementation stage, in which the existing wiring in the Cluj-Napoca Polyvalent Hall was extended, both on optical fiber and on copper. Subsequently, we ensured the installation and configuration of the equipment, which underwent a technical audit performed by the European Federation. Moreover, throughout the event we offered permanent on-site and remote technical support.

Result
  • 2 redundant data rooms
  • 600 wired network ports and wireless coverage throughout the building
  • Over 10 Tb of transmitted data, of which 1 Tb via the wireless infrastructure
