The collaboration with the Romanian Basketball Federation looked at the European Championship held inside the Multipurpose Hall (BT Arena) in Cluj-Napoca. Following the preliminary meeting I had with the representatives of the Romanian Basketball Federation, I received from the organization the specifications with the necessary technical requirements.
They aimed at creating a completely redundant infrastructure, two data rooms, 3 internet providers, over 600 network and professional wireless ports, simultaneously serving over 450 accredited users and over 9000 spectators. Also, all equipment had to be made available by suppliers on a lease basis throughout the competition.
In order to meet all the needs and to ensure a smooth development of the event, we chose the equipment that perfectly corresponded to the requirements, realizing the architecture of the solution and the technical project. The solution thus included Fortigate firewall systems, FortiSwitch switches, Ruckus Wireless equipment, laptops, printers, copiers and monitoring servers.
Following the initial proposal, we organized a meeting with the people from the IT department of the European Basketball Federation, who validated the proposed solution. For implementation, the existing wiring in the Cluj-Napoca Polyvalent Hall was extended, both on fiber optics and copper. Subsequently, we ensured the installation and configuration of the equipment, which was subjected to technical audit by the European Federation. Moreover, throughout the event we guaranteed onsite and telephone technical support 24/7.
